MELD Score (Model For End-Stage Liver Disease)
Stratifies severity of end-stage liver disease, for transplant planning.

On 11 Jan 2016, the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) made a policy change, revising the MELD scoring system pertaining to transplant listing. The revised MELD score is first calculated by determining the traditional MELD score as an initial score; an initial MELD score less than 12 does not require Na (Sodium) correction; if the initial MELD score is greater than or equal to 12, the score is adjusted by incorporating the Na (Sodium) value; the initial and revised MELD scores are each capped at an upper limit of 40. This version of the MELD calculator includes the UNOS modifications of the original model, as well as other proposed variations of MELD Score from the literature.
